An absolutely inspired idea! I never would have thought to do that in a million years! I’m off to go set up a new cell phone to take all of these calls. Thanks, Carl!

#2 Dave

Cool! I am all over it! Thanks…

Great idea. A logistic question: Is this correct? 1. Get another home phone line, 2. Get phone numbers of out-of-business mortgage companies for the home phone line and 3. Forward line to cell phone especially for this purpose.

If you get multiple out-of-business phone numbers, will phone company funnel all these lines to one home phone?

Carl, you’re right! I’m going to DO THIS tonight after everyone’s closed. I’ll comment again to let you know how many out of service #s I found…

Here’s what really hit home for me…

I heard of this idea from Dan Kennedy somewhere (I’ll bet you did too.) However, when you said DOING it NOW is the key. Just reading about it or knowing about it doesn’t do diddly squat.

Thanks again Carl! I’ll check back in tomorrow…

#16 Keith

All I can say is WOW and thank you.

#17 Mark from Jersey

Even if you take over 40 of these disconnected numbers at $15 a piece per month, that’s $600 monthly which only 1 loan a month from this strategy will easily pay for and then some! Not an expense but, actually an investment with great ROI!

Heard this from Dan Kennedy as well but, sat on my hands until now.

I spoke to my local phone provider Comacst. They said they could only add 1 additional line but only for limited phone numbers because of my address. I am going to contact Verizon too.

#19 Paul M

Excellent Idea!

#20 Robert Cucciardi

Great Idea, however I had thought of this before and this is what I experienced. Phone companies do not release phone numbers that are in the yellow pages for quite some time after they are disconnected for this exact reason. Old business numbers that are in yellow pages are generally not re-issued for at least 2 or so years. Thanks

#21 jaime

sound like an original iead, thanks.

#22 Gary

This is a brilliant idea!
I can’t wait for the next one…

#23 Dave

You have to wait 1 full year for the telephone number to be disconnected before requesting that line.

The owner still has the rights to that number. (They can grant you the number though).

#24 Carl White

Ok, many are sending me comments that you can’t do this.
You keep thinking that. I own 12 numbers that roll to my cell phone.
A better way to say this is “How Do You Do That?”
To simply say you can’t and then giving up is what I call “Creative Avoidance”. People come up with all kinds of “creative” reasons why they CANT do something.
I spend my time creatively thinking HOW CAN I do it.
Not all phone companies have the same rules. Simply call other phone companies in your area. Each phone company controls different blocks of phone numbers. I have one number being forwarded to my phone that was originally assigned to a company that was at least 400 miles from my office.
Did I have to do a little searching????
YES!!!
Do I make millions because I do a little searching…. YES!!
Am I glad those many others give up so easily and think of reasons why it can’t be done….. YES!!!
Sorry guys, I shoot from the hip. It offends some, inspires others.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way!!

Carl

PS. Wait till you see my magazine strategy that is coming up.

#25 Gerald

Great idea! I would of never thought of it.

#26 Robert

Sorry Carl, not to argue with you. I live in Arizona and I would challenge you to take another company’s phone number after they have disconnected. I do appreciate your theory on thinking positive and figuring out ways that something can be done rather than why it can’t be done, but you also have to be realistic on this issue. You maybe have a special technique or certain words you use or maybe there’s a certain law that requires them to give you the number, if so I would like to know it. The phone companies have explained to me why they hold the numbers for 2 or so years. Reason number one is that they give the original owner a chance to get it back, Reason number 2, is that many small businesses have their numbers published in the yellow pages, get disconnected and then a family member or friend tries to get it back, thus beating the company by receiving FREE yellow page advertising. Please bring some light to this because it bothers me that I have not been able to accomplish this. Thanks so much for your information.

Hi Robert,
Please read the response I posted on comment #24. This should answer your question.
