Is this business advice or dating advice?
In this video, Carl is having coffee with his lovely wife Maria. At first, I thought he was giving dating advice but as usual he ties something we can all relate to “Dating” back to a way to build your business with little effort.
By the way, if Carl cut this video off after the first couple of sentences without giving you a business building tip, the video would still carry a very important marketing lesson. That lesson being to not be afraid of including your family in your marketing. It is something practically everyone can relate to.
Enjoy…and please let us know what you think by clicking the “Post Your Comments” link below.
UPDATE ON CONTEST:
Last week, we announced a “Carl on Location” Contest. We had some really great posts and we are going to get on the phone this Saturday or Sunday and select a winner. It is not too late to submit your entry. Just go to last week’s Mortgage Marketing Minute by clicking HERE and then click on the “Post Your Comments” link below the video. In your post, simply tell us where you think Carl should shoot a future video.
We will select the most creative location sometime next week and send the winner a new camcorder called The Flip. They shoot quality videos, are super easy to use and you can upload your videos to the web with little effort at all. Carl and I plan to show you two different ways to get your videos online within the next week or so.
THE WINNER’S FLIP CAMCORDER JUST ARRIVED YESTERDAY!
The winner’s Flip Camcorder just arrived yesterday. I ordered the Ultra Version in Black because I think it is smaller, sleeker and just cooler - I ordered a new one for myself as well ![]()

Just ask for the business! Again another simple but very effective strategy. Thank you Carl for reminding me that I don’t need to do a lot of fancy stuff to get good profitable business.
Great video - carries a lesson at the very end….make sure all of the people in your video have a script…or you’ll have UNHAPPY family members!!!
Great Job Carl and Maria!!
Thanks for another good tip Carl.
Usually I wouldn’t make a post like this, but the tip of the day is to ask….
Anyone on this list from St Paul, MN? Send me an email if you are.
You are so correct on that one. Some times we forget the fundamental thing to do is to ask and to be persistant. Thank you for the reminder. By the way your wife is lovely.
manny
You stated in the video there was a link below for the MONDAY MORNing MINUTE.
I do not find it on this page!!??
Have a great day,
Rick
Carl, this is one of the be attitudes That Jesus emphasized in the bible when in was speaking in AS TOLD BY MATTHEW. “Ask and it shall be given unto you, knock and the door shall be opened, seek and you will find”. It’s always good to be reminded of the basics. Thanks!!!!!
Realy nicely put! “How Do You Spell Your Name. Lets Get Stared” is one of my favorate questions… Say Carl, can I get one of those Flip Camcorders from you? (== Closed mouths don’t get fed..
Keep up the awsome work… It’s about time someone like you with a giving heart came arownd. The more I apply your ideas the more I keep comming back to this blog for more…
great idea to call agents on Monday morning, but how about saying to them where was your favorite loan officer this weekend while you were sitting at an open house? Is he waiting for you to fax a REPC to him since you worked this weekend, how about offering to sit at the open house with your agent to help qualify the suspects. Or just go to open houses and introduce yourself to them because you are out of their office in a better environment…I have been doing this for years and it works, trust me.
Ron Aguilar,
What is the Monday morning fax?
Hey Carl,
Where’s the link to download the Monday morning fax?
Thanks for the tip this week. It’s great to be reminded of things we already intuitively know but need a ‘whack upside the head’ like this to remind us to…just do it!
Keep up the good work, Carl. I’m looking forward to more simple, valuable and deadly effective (when applied) tips from you.
Sincerely,
Steve
P.S. Hey, Raz… love your comment too.
It reminded me to dig up the Jack Davis lines “I want you as a client - let’s get started - how do you spell your name - who else do you know?” line of questioning. Simple, yet effective.
Thanks for the reminder!
Peace.
